I hit the Brad Paisley show Friday night at Darien Lake. As expected, Brad was amazing. Every time I see the guy his shows get better. I won’t say I was surprised how good Jewel was. She’s a seasoned pro with a pretty major pop career under her belt. She stopped by my live broadcast and did an interview. You can check it out in the “celebrity podcast” section of my blog located on the right side of this page. I will say I was surprised at the crowds reaction to her. From what I witnessed, the fans have welcomed her with open arms to the world of country music. She did her new country stuff, but when she did her older pop hits, the place went nuts. At one point she held out the mic to let the crowd sing, and they did. Loudly.

I got the chance to hang out with Jewel for a few minutes before the show. She was very down to Earth. Sweet. Friendly. She invited my girlfriend Val and me onto her bus and showed us the video for her next single “I do.” I have to say, this was a pretty rare event for me. Usually it’s a quick hello at a meet and greet, then off you go. We talked about music, her ranch (2,300 acres) her cute little dog, and bull riding. When you live with a world class rodeo champ, conversation tends to go in his direction. She was totally cool with that. I’m guessing at some point artists probably get tired of talking about themselves and it was a nice change of pace for her. If you were at the show, I’d love to hear what you thought of Jewel, Brad, Chuck Wicks & Julieann Hough.

How to control your kid in the grocery store

Thursday, June 26th, 2008

My son Aidan has ALOT of energy. I spend most of the time at a grocery store chasing him. The kid loves to run. He always comes back to me, but it’s always a little scary (and annoying) when he takes off down the isle. Tonight was different. I needed some groceries and headed over to the Big M in Hilton (Westside!) and Aidan grabbed this little plastic shopping cart. I’d never noticed them before. Man, did it do the trick. He stayed by my side almost the entire time. God bless the plastic shopping cart!!!!!
