Jewel ties the knot

This marriage has been a looooong time coming. They eloped last weekend. Jewel and Ty Murry have been together for over 10 years. Most MARRIAGES don’t last that long when you’re famous, but they’ve found a way to keep their love humming along. When Jewel opened the show for Brad Paisley at Darien Lake a few weeks ago, I spent some time with her and talked about business and personal issues. Her latest single, “I do” has a great video which she showed me on her bus. I didn’t really understand it at first, but after I left the bus I got it. They were staring down their future together, almost as if it was a game of chicken. Who’s going to blink first? Did Ty want to marry her or just remain lovers? Jewel writes most of her songs from life experience. After I digested the lyrics for a moment I asked “Is that song you asking him to ask you to marry him? I don’t see a ring on that finger?!” Her response was simple and too the point: ”um, DUH, yeah!!” I think it’s great that after all this time together they got married. Who said romance is dead?

Click here to see the video for “I do” then read the lyrics below. I wonder if all this woke Ty up to the fact she wanted to get married?!

We’ve being doing this word dance
together for some time I know.
We’ve treating love like a battlefield
and taking it slow.

Will you blink?
What do you think.
The union we propose
Is dangerous I know.

‘Cause love is a game until it’s played
And if it’s lost, it can’t ever be saved.
We have heaven to gain and hell to lose
And the difference is up to me and you.
So if you will, I will stop saying I won’t
And start saying I do. I do.

Life can take a long time
If you make the wrong choice.
But time sure seems to fly by
When I hear your voice.

The stakes are high,
How we will find
The courage to believe?
We will succeed.

‘Cause love is a game until it’s played
And if it’s lost, it can’t ever be saved.
We have heaven to gain and hell to lose
And the difference is up to me and you.
So if you will, I will stop saying I won’t
And start saying I do.

Well our hearts are locked inside an iron box.
We’re both too afraid to reveal our most tender parts, oh.

‘Cause love is a game until it’s played
And if it’s lost, it can’t ever be saved.
We have heaven to win and hell to lose
And the difference is up to me and you.

So if you will, I will stop saying I won’t.
Stop saying I can’t.
Is that what you said?
Cause if you did, I do. I do.

If you want me to.
I do.
If you want me to.
If you want me to.
If you want me to.
If you want me to.
I willl try, I willl try, I will try.
I do.
