Poppin’ the question

Yeah, I did it. I asked my girlfriend Val to marry me and she actually said “yes!” I bought the ring a few days ago and had planned on proposing sometime this weekend. The Road Hammers were in the studio and we had just about finished up an interview when one of the guys mentioned something about barely being able to use a cell phone. THAT led me down the path to making fun of Val. I call her “Amish” because she’s sooo not into phones, electronics, electricity, modern medicine, you name it. Anyway, I had my backpack sitting on the chair behind me while the Road Hammers were performing. I caught a glimps of Val behind me and turned to find her hand in MY bag. Yes, the bag with the ring. I figured I was busted anyway so I pulled it out and the rest is history. Click the podcast to the right of this post to hear how it all went down. I really want to thank the Road Hammers for breaking into an, well, lets call it “interesting” version of John Michael Montgomery’s “I love the way you love me.” They really made a special moment even more special.

Calling the song “I Swear” interesting just does not do it justice!

Congratulations on your impending nuptuals! Can you please post a picture of you and Val? It would be awesome to see the girl who stole your heart and left the rest of us single girls out to dry… I’m still in tears that you’re off the market once again. Alas, she’s a lucky girl, and on behalf of all your listeners, I wish you the best of luck. Let’s just hope she doesn’t turn into the dreaded BRIDEZILLA!!!

I lost my sister to cancer one month before you lost your wife. I know the heartache that goes with it. I’m so glad you found someone to put a smile back on your face, and someone you want to share your life with!

I wish you both health and happiness!

In my honest opinion, and this may not be for me to say, but I honestly think that this engagement is too soon after your wife’s death. I don’t think that you really had all the time that you needed to heal from that. It’s just too soon.
