My kid is making up words

Monday, August 25th, 2008

Tomorning. It’s pronounced “two-morning”  It means “tomorrow morning.” I’ve actually started using it. “Hey, I’ll call you tomorrow” is just too vague. That could be anytime between 7am and midnight. But “Tomorning” is pretty specific. “I’ll call you tomorning” narrows the time down to, well, 7am til 11amish. Not bad for a four year old! Do you have any made up words that your kid came up with?

Yeah, I did it. I asked my girlfriend Val to marry me and she actually said “yes!” I bought the ring a few days ago and had planned on proposing sometime this weekend. The Road Hammers were in the studio and we had just about finished up an interview when one of the guys mentioned something about barely being able to use a cell phone. THAT led me down the path to making fun of Val. I call her “Amish” because she’s sooo not into phones, electronics, electricity, modern medicine, you name it. Anyway, I had my backpack sitting on the chair behind me while the Road Hammers were performing. I caught a glimps of Val behind me and turned to find her hand in MY bag. Yes, the bag with the ring. I figured I was busted anyway so I pulled it out and the rest is history. Click the podcast to the right of this post to hear how it all went down. I really want to thank the Road Hammers for breaking into an, well, lets call it “interesting” version of John Michael Montgomery’s “I love the way you love me.” They really made a special moment even more special.

Twitter

Have you heard of Twitter yet? It’s basically a blog…a microblog. Kinda cool if you have a bunch of people that you’d like to keep in touch with as a group. Think of it as instant messaging that you can do from a computer OR your cell phone. The differnce is the messages must be short. Why would you want to do this?! Well, I can think of at least one good example. Lets say you and a bunch of friends are headed to a concert. You know they are there, but you haven’t seen them yet. Instead of texting or calling multiple people you send out one twit message saying “I’m at the t shirt booth. Come say hi.” I can see how this might be fun, but I can also see drunk people sending out messages at 2 in the morning that say “wuuuuuuuu!!!” I’m reading and seeing all over the place that “twitter” is the next best thing. Is this TOO much information? Are you on twitter yet? Think you will be anytime soon?! If you sign up, I’m listed as “billykidd925″ Click here to find out more.
